Cookin' It

I've been cooking a bit lately. This weekend it was a variation of char siu with chicken and pork, a variant of hummus replacing garlic with basil and red-pepper, and baked pita bread. The main thing I'm learning is that my oven overcooks cookies, but otherwise seems to work fine at cooking at other food. And if I make char siu again, I'll definately char it a bit more and use more hoison and honey instead of soy sauce. The sauce was good, but somewhat salty. Last night it was blue-cheese stuffed chicken in Italian breading, whole wheat thin spaghetti with alfredo, and croissants. The chicken turned out fine enough, but I think a nice pepper-jack cheese would have given it a better kick.

So, the plan for this weekend is to try making the chicken with pepper jack cheese, with sides of Indian potato pancakes, and some sort of pesto hummus. A nice bottle of raspberry honey-wine would make for the perfect touch, now that we've converted the sun-room into a dining room.
