The Periphery of the Mind

Many of you who visit are either fans of, or familiar with, H.P. Lovecraft. And many of you have likely heard of how he was influenced by Lord Dunsany, Bram Stoker, and Robert Chambers.

I'd often heard of Chambers' work, "The King in Yellow", but never actually read it. I'm not saying it's a good read, but it is interesting, and easy to see how it influenced Lovecraft's interest in the relationship between madness and art. Other authors and works at the Literature of the Fantastic site are also worth looking into, if you're in the mood for weird 19th century readin'.
