Not much news lately.
Maryanne's been sick, but toughing it out at work. She recently had to let her new graphic design assistant go after deciding he wasn't working out, and that was after her old assistant was fired for trying to steal business away. So until they can find a replacement, she's pretty much it. However, Maryanne's sister is working there now, and has some graphic skills and creativity. They're letting her try things out a bit, but since they don't have any better applicants and need someone immediately, maybe it'll work out. In the mean time, it's pretty much just Maryanne handling graphic design for where she works, and they're ramping up for busy season.
Let's see....
Picked up another magazine subscription.
Cooking Light. It's really kind of odd. Cheap, big magazine, with lots of good articles and recipies (and ads). What's weird is it also has articles on exercise, clothing, and other miscellaneous crap. Not much really, but enough to make me wonder if they needed to pad pages or something. Anyway, I went ahead and subscribed. I found it just educational and interesting enough to get me in, and $18 for 11 issues (nine plus a double-sized magazine) sounded dirt cheap for what is in it. We're starting to have a bit of mildly interesting and varied magazines for people to flip through when they visit.
Finally we have Flower. A little black and white tuxedo girl cat. I got on the hunt for a cat for Maryanne, and my boss's wife's co-worker works as a vet for the Springdale animal shelter. She saw this really friendly and clingly, and potentially pregnant, kitten was to be put down, and decided to rescue her. So far Flower, the kitten, is turning out pretty good. She's no Squeeky, but she causes less trouble than the boys ever did and she likes to sleep with Maryanne at night.
That said, I think Flower shattered her dinner plate in protest last night after only getting dry food to eat. Canned-food withdrawl is apparently an ugly, ugly thing.
