The Periphery of the Mind

Not a whole lot to report really. Spent a lot of money on a Stihl weedeater this weekend. That said, they threw in some extra string, some oil, a free check-up after five hours of use, and we got a two-year warranty. And, surprise surprise, the thing actually might be worth the cost.

I hate weedeaters with a passion. They're a pain to start, a pain to feed line out of, a pain to feed line into. My last one was a piece of garbage when it was new, and I'm ready to junk it. This one is pretty easy to start, line feeds out easily enough, and it has a nifty mechanism for winding string in. And it's got enough power to actually scare me into wearing the protective goggles that came with it; I still have blisters where debris hit me while weedeating. Between the increased power and the shoulder strap it comes with, I have no doubt that I could use this thing to clear a forest path if I wanted to. The only complaint I have is that it's very loud.
