The Periphery of the Mind

It'd been having problems for a bit, but after... four years? five years? the treadmill is pretty much dead.

I suspect the tread motor is what's having problems. Trying to contact the company for tech support or replacement parts is proving tricky. That said, it looks like a replacement motor will run around $150 or more and may only be one problem among many. A tech would probably cost around $50, plus parts, and then I might have something else go out, but a tech would know what they're doing a heck of a lot better than me. On the one hand, a new treadmill will set us back at $600. On the other, I'm not sure putting $200 into a $400 treadmill that's five years old is the best move either.

I can honestly say that I put at least 550 miles on the thing. The odometer reads at 601, and even after subtracting some usage where the tread was spinning with no one on it and some usage by the Professor, I figure 550 miles were me walking or running on it.

So while we figure out what we want to do (another treadmill, a stationary cycle, something else), I'll continue to hit my weights instead.
