The Periphery of the Mind

That's what the neurologist called them, essential tremors, and it certainly seems to fit the description of Maryanne's problems. She's on Mysoline (a.k.a. Primidone), but it'll be a while before she can tell if it's working or not apparently. Just a few days. In the meantime, either it's making her feel sick (an initial common side-effect), or my tuna casserole last night did, or she has a bug. Hopefully though, once the Mysoline kicks in she'll be able to drop the Xanax the doctors initially put her on. Xanax acts as a general tranquilizer, but this Mysoline stuff is designed specifically for essential tremors.

So... what set it all off?

I'm guessing that her fertility treatments altered her hormonal levels enough to set off a case of hypothyroidism. Which in turn mixed with her stress levels (between a monster workload, a new softball team, and moving issues, and limited family dramas with her sister, she had a huge amount of stress) to set off the ET. Hopefully she can get her hormones under control, and we're talking about maybe seeing if she can find a less stressful career. She loves what she does, but it's not good for her health (and the benefits are pretty non-existent anyway).
